Chhori Shelter, Kathmandu
The women who stay at Chhori's shelter in Kathmandu are survivors of the sex work industry. Most of them were lured from rural villages by traffickers or came to the city to find work and discovered a way to make money fast. Chhori is a wholistic, women-led, grass-roots program that works with women while they are still working in the industry, as they try to leave, and as they work toward an independent life. At Chhori, they can seek counseling, job training, language and math classes and medical care. For one woman's story, click here.
